As Mental Health Month comes to an end, it is important to remember that mental and physical health are closely connected. Good mental wellbeing can be supported in many ways: staying physically active, eating well, maintaining social connections, participating in meaningful activities and seeking support when life’s challenges become difficult.
At NIHRACS, mental wellbeing is not the responsibility of just one service. Depending on a person’s individual needs, support may involve GPs, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, nursing and other members of the healthcare team. The right support will look different for everyone.
Mental Health Month may finish, but conversations about mental wellbeing should continue throughout the year. Check in with yourself as well as the people around you.
If something doesn’t feel right, or you are finding it increasingly difficult to cope, reach out. Starting the conversation early can make it easier to find the support you need.
